Georgie Estill BA is a graphic artist & printmaker based in Robin Hood’s Bay on the North Yorkshire Coastline. She is an on call firefighter & active member of the British Printing Society.
Graduating from Winchester School of Art in 2018 with a first class honours in Graphic Arts specialising in Graphic Design, her current practice includes freelance graphic design and letterpress printmaking from a small scale garden studio. Producing limited editions of print that links the beauty and culture of historical printing with the progression of contemporary design—Georgie offers up an alternative to our modern day print with a bit of history, soul, craft, and care.
An advocate for slow living, her letterpress process stretches way beyond the act of printing on her 1930s tabletop platen press. Typesetting metal type with traditional methods and equipment, Georgie hand picks words of weight and grounds them onto beautiful paper with inky conviction. She prints for positivity, harnessing the immense power of words to heal and uplift—her print acts as a beacon for love and light in an increasingly confusing world.
In terms of graphic design Georgie’s work is heavily grounded in typography. Inspiration is often rooted in the realisation of cultural concerns, contemporary insights or significant places and emotions. The visual aspects of her practice stem from an optimistic outlook or an engagement with a narrative—both subtle and vibrant colours feature confidently with sensitive typographic detail and strong tactile finishes that reinforce an unapologetically bold body of work.
