‘Instantaneous Thoughts’ is a project by photographer Alice Kemp—a beautiful concept photo book that personally documents her journey through life in lockdown. Using Polaroid shooting, the sometimes harsh moments of truth were sensitively captured, coinciding with the fleeting thoughts that accompanied them to allow an honest and authentic insight into how lockdown in covid-19 Britain has personally affected the photographer. This book is a resourceful and vulnerable conversation starter for mental health issues and a spotlight on the rising death rates alongside the pandemic—suicides—and the atrocious stigma surrounding them.

Graphic design, editorial layout and design, typographic detailing and post production printing was undertaken by Georgina Estill. Belly bands were letterpress printed onto beautiful fine art paper, Zirkall rough 225gsm. The titling letterpress slugs were cast in an elegant 24pt Bodoni Modern by experienced caster Andy Taylor on his Ludlow Typograph.
